Network equipment advice for IPSEC VPN connection

Hello everyone,

I hope one of you can give me some advice on the following question. On this moment we have 3 offices in the US and 1 office in the Netherlands. We want to connect the the offices via a 100mbit IPSEC VPN connection. I have the knowledge to create the VPN connections but i do not know what kind of Cisco equipment we need. Our offices in the US already have an Cisco 3725 without an VPN module, our office in the Netherlands uses an ASA 5510 for internet and VPN connections. I expect that the 3725 is not fast enough to create an VPN connection like that.

What would you guys suggest / do in this situation?

A 3725 is on the light side for even 100 Mbps, unencrypted.  Without encryption hardware, your 3725s would be crushed with multi-megabit encryption.

I not familiar enough with the ASA series to comment on their encryption performance.

I've attached a Cisco whitepaper that discusses performance of most of the newer ISRs, including using for encryption.

Thank you for the answers, can one of you tell me if it is better to put a new router on all the locations or a ASA on all the locations?
