Hi all,
I know for N5K is best practice to use the mgmt0 interface for keepalive.
In our case it isn't possible to use this copper port.
Is it a good practice to use a routed port-channel as a point to point link between the two devices and put them into a separat vrf ?
int eth1/7 - 8
no sw
channel-group X mode active
int po X
ip add x.x.x.x/30
vpc domain 10
peer-keepalive destination x.x.x.2 source x.x.x.1 vrf vpc-keepalive
The N5K has a Layer 3 modul and licence
Thanks
Udo

That is a valid configuration but you don't really need a port channel. 1Gbps will be sufficient.
If this ink fails it has no impact on the vPC domain or data forwarding:

Thanks sean...
In most technical docs I don't see the difference between a N5K with or w/o Layer 3 module. But this this is important regarding the creating of a separat vrf and a dedicated L3 Link.
Without this it isn't possible to create a L3 Link nor a L3 Portchannel.
