Nexus 5672 Upgrade issue

Hi All

We have just recently purchased 2 new Nexus 5672. There are not in production and have come installed with the following:

switch# sh ver

Software
BIOS: version 2.1.7
loader: version N/A
kickstart: version 7.0(1)N1(1)
system: version 7.0(1)N1(1)
Power Sequencer Firmware:
Module 1: version v4.0
Module 2: version v4.0
Fabric Power Sequencer Firmware: Module 1: version v4.0
Microcontroller Firmware: version v0.0.0.15
QSFP Microcontroller Firmware:
Module 2: v2.0.0.0
SFP Microcontroller Firmware:
Module 1: v1.3.0.0
BIOS compile time: 06/16/2016
kickstart image file is: bootflash:///n6000-uk9-kickstart.7.0.1.N1.1.bin
kickstart compile time: 3/19/2014 14:00:00 [03/20/2014 02:55:34]
system image file is: bootflash:///n6000-uk9.7.0.1.N1.1.bin
system compile time: 3/19/2014 14:00:00 [03/20/2014 02:57:35]

Hardware
cisco Nexus 5672UP Chassis ("Nexus 5672UP Supervisor")
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU @ 1.80 with 8243344 kB of memory.
bootflash: 7692288 kB

I am trying to upgrade the kickstart and the system image directly to version 7.3.3. I am using the following 2 images:

Kickstart Image:n6000-uk9-kickstart.7.3.3.N1.1.bin

System Image:n6000-uk9.7.3.3.N1.1.bin

But when I check the impact of the upgrade, this is what I get:

Recommended action::
"Module 1 2 might not be supported in the new image,
it should be powered off before proceeding with install".

The modules present are:

Mod Ports Module-Type Model Status
--- ----- ----------------------------------- ---------------------- -----------
-
1 48 Nexus 5672UP Supervisor N5K-C5672UP-SUP active *
2 6 Nexus 6xQSFP Ethernet Module N5K-C5672UP-M6Q ok

Mod Sw Hw World-Wide-Name(s) (WWN)
--- -------------- ------ ---------------------------------------------------
-
1 7.0(1)N1(1) 2.0 --
2 7.0(1)N1(1) 2.0 --

Is this happening because I am not following the upgrade path? There is no configuration on the switches at all at present.

Thanks

It's for 7.3(2), but according to this link you need to upgrade to 7.1(4)N1(1) first.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5600/sw/upgrade/732_N1_1/n5600_upgrade_downgrade_732_n1_1.html#pgfId-672469

Here's the text:

Note If you want to upgrade from a release on Cisco NX-OS release 7.1 train or earlier, you must first upgrade to Cisco NX-OS release 7.1(4)N1(1) and then to 7.3(2)N1(1). If you want to upgrade from a release on Cisco NX-OS release 7.2 train, you must first upgrade to Cisco NX-OS release 7.2(1)N1(1) and then to 7.3(2)N1(1).

Hope this helps

When upgrading system software, follow these guidelines:
Configuration changes
You cannot enter global configuration mode during an upgrade. You should save, commit, or discard any active configuration sessions before upgrading or downgrading the Cisco NX-OS software image. The active configuration session is deleted without a warning during a reload.
Here you can refer the link for Upgrade:-
