The ping command on our Nexus 9000 won't properly interpret the backspace key:
MEDCABOT-DCCSC01# ping
Vrf context to use [default] :
MEDCABOT-DCCSC01# or Hostname: 93^H^H^C
This doesn't happen on the command line, only inside ping. It also doesn't happen on any other platform we have (ASR, Cat9k).
NXOS: version 7.0(3)I5(2)
cisco Nexus9000 93180YC-EX chassis
I'm using SecureCRT in xterm mode. Setting it to VT100 mode didn't change this behavior.
I am a notorious fat-fingerer so I don't really have a workaround
thanks,
jim

It turns out Delete works. How did this get to be a production device with nobody noticing this? Heck, how was is programmed that way to begin with?

You can map keys on secure CRT

Hi Jim,
I appreciate you bringing this issue up! Although it looks like you found a workaround through the "Delete" key, I want you to know I filed an enhancement CSCvw12737 to improve the ping and ping6 commands such that the "Backspace" key deletes prior text as expected. Note that as this bug was just filed this evening, it may takes a few business days for it to become publicly visible.
Let me know if you have any questions - thank you!
