What is the different between these two? In term of pricing, a lot of different. Our purpose is to segmentize the FULL E1(2M) lease line into different rate. Can we use NM-HDV2-1T1 instead of NM-HDV-1E1-30? Please advise

NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 is 1-port T1/E1 IP communications high-density digital voice/fax network module

NM-HDV-1E1-30 is 1-port 30-channel E1 voice/fax network module Bundle: NM-HDV with one (1) VWIC-1MFT-E1 and three (3) PVDM-12s

These modules are designed primarly for voice circuits, though they do have the capability to run data circuits. The NM-HDV2s are the second generation high density voice modules and they succeed the NM-HDV's which are the first gens. NM-HDV2s are supported only in 2600XMs, the new ISRs etc. ( I dont think, the 3600s support that, though 3700s do).

The NM-HDV2 comes in three flavours.

a.NM-HDV2 - no onboard ports, one vwic slot

b.NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 - 1 T1/E1 onboard port, one wic slot

c.NM-HDV2-2T1/E1 - 2 T1/E1 onboard ports, one wic slot

b. and c. have onboard ports which can be configured as a T1 or E1 port using the command

"card type t1|e1 " from global config mode.

All three modules have an optional vwic slot which can home a voice vic such as vwic's or vic's

The NM-HDV2 also has four onboard PVDM slots and they use a higher density DSP chip called the PVDM2's. THe PVDM2 is available in various flavours,

a. PVDM2-8

b. PVDM2-16

c. PVDM2-24

d. PVDM2-32

e. PVDM2-48

f. PVDM2-64

These PVDM2s cannot be used in NM-HDV's. They can only be used in NM-HDV2s or the onboard DSP slots of a 2800 or 3800 router.

NM-HDV has no onboard ports for T1/E1. It only has one vwic slot which can take a vwic or vic. You have to get a vwic that is either a t1 or e1. These modules use a lower density DSP chip called PVDM-12. You have 5 slots in this module and can home 5 PVDM-12's giving 60 channel density per module.

The price difference between the two modules are almost the same (NM-HDV and NM-HDV2), so I would suggest you to go for NM-HDV2.

Again to conclude, these modules are primarily designed for voice though they have capability to run data circuits. There are other NMs available for running strictly data.
