Hi all,
I have set up two router with route port (two router with two links with equal cost) and running ospf to test ospf failover time. I get the result is about 4 sec.
Why it so fast. ospf not take 30 sec ?

Check your Hello times first...
if its 1 second than probably the result is correct it gives you Hold-down
timer at 3 to 4 second.

Hi,
I haven't intended to tune the hello time and dead interval. On the other hand, I have checked the default dead interval is 40secconds. So why my result is just few seconds ?
thank!

Hi,
How are you checking the fail over ?
If its by shutting down the link or removing the cable, Ospf will NOT wait for hold interval to expire for obvious reasons !
You may delete the process on the other router and check this out, it will work in the desired way
HTH,
