OSPF over MPLS Layer 2

Hi All

we are the process of changing the service provider for our WAN (5 sites + HQ). Currently its point to point with HQ and we are using static routes ( as we know not very scalable)...

The new WAN will be mesh ( MPLS Layer 2)  so all the routers will.be in the same subnet... I am planning to run OSPF....I assume the OSPF network type will be broadcast ,,,my question is  Will MPLS Layer 2 will allow the OSPF multicast? Or should I change the OSPF network type to something else.?

Thank you for your help in advance

Depends on how L2 "like" the MPLS WAN is. Have you discussed this with your MPLS provider?

Thanks Joseph.. I’ll check with the provider and update the thread when I receive an answer

Just updating this thread,,,

I didn't receive any answers from the provider which is a pain....

I ended up changing the OSFP network type to point-multipoint and specify the neighbors with neighbor statement (Only five site so not painful).

I increased the hello to 20 secs among those router.

Cheers
