Hi All,
Im setting up HUB and Spoke environtment. No communication needs between spoke. All sites in area 0. HUB in 172.16.0.0/16 segment. 10 Spoke in 172.17.x.0/24 segments.I dont wants HUB send route to spoke that it learn from another spoke as by default it will send. And HUB should only send summary route 172.16.0.0/16 and 172.17.0.0/16( in case for troubleshooting purpose) route to each spoke. How to achieve this?

Hi,
In OSPF you can only summarize on ABR or ASBR so if all routers are in same single area you won't be able to achieve this goal.

Hi Alain,
In that case, can I change HUB LAN into new area, while leaving HUB WAN link and Spoke WAN link / LAN in area 0? Is this legal and the HUB router can become ABR?

Nagis

Hi,
yes in that case the hub will be an ABR and you can do summarization of your LAN area with the area range command.
To my best knowledge you can only have 1 area range command so it will be hard advertising 2 summaries except if you also make this router an ASBR( by redistributing the second summary subnets) and use summary-address command or if you put these subnets in another area.
Regards.
Alain
