I have install a new PCMCIA Flash 24MB (VPK1216T5200-CS03A). I have tried to erase it and the following error come up:
router#erase slot1:
Erasing the slot1 filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]
%dev_open: PCMCIA Slot1 flash not writable
%Error erasing slot1: (Device is read-only)
router#show ver
show ver
16384K bytes of processor board PCMCIA Slot0 flash (Read/Write)
24576K bytes of processor board PCMCIA Slot1 flash (Device not programmable)
Physically doesn't have a mechanical switch for write proctect.
Any ideas?

It seems that often these messages are caused by using PCMCIA cards that are not supported in the particular router and/or IOS version. You might like to check the Cisco part number for the PCMCIA card, the router model and the IOS version and make sure they are all listed as supported.
