Port-channel configurations on not onboard Router interface

Hi Guys;

I am configuring port-channel on my 2821 router but unable to do so.

Remember its HWIC-2FE card.

When I issue the command channel-group 1 below error comes

Error: This interface does not allow user-settable mtu.

Remove the mtu command from the port channel configuration

to be able to add this interfaceto the port channel

but same command works fine on onboard router interfaces.

I also tried to set mtu size but below is the error

2821-01(config-if)#mtu 1504

% Interface FastEthernet0/2/1 does not support user settable mtu.

Can you try defaulting interfaces with the default interface command.

What is the IOS you are running? There was a defect which reported the same error for this HWIC when trying to configure etherchannel:

First fixed in versions:

15.1(01.05)T 15.1(01)XB01 15.1(01)T 15.1(00.26)T0.4 15.0(01)M1.12 12.4(25c)M0.2 12.4(24)T04 12.4(15)T14

Could you check if the software is affected?

I am using (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T3 image and havn't found this bugg in this IOS.

Hello Shehzad,

It is not completely clear what you mean by this. Do you mean that you have another 2800 router running 12.4(24)T3 and you could configure etherchannel on the HWIC-1FE interface?

Based on the bug description, 12.4(24)T3 is affected. I would recommend trying minimum 12.4(24)T4 or a later release to avoid this defect as the first step.
