Hi,
I noticed that the interface ATM E3 on my router give me this show in which there have been 74 carrier trnsitions in two hours and half.
Now, I would like to know how to understand if the fault is mine (on my PA)?
This router is in live environment and I have difficult to do a debug.
Is there other to do troubleshooting?
Thanks.
Regards.
Paolo

Paolo,
Could you please post the config of your router as well as the output of the E3 interface status?
Thanks,

Hi,
This is a show interface:
7200-Acc#sh int a3/0
ATM3/0 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is ENHANCED ATM PA
MTU 4470 bytes, sub MTU 4470, BW 33920 Kbit, DLY 200 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 84/255, rxload 77/255
Encapsulation ATM, loopback not set
Encapsulation(s): AAL5
4095 maximum active VCs, 739 current VCCs
VC idle disconnect time: 300 seconds
32 carrier transitions
Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:40:31
Input queue: 0/1024/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 5656
Queueing strategy: Per VC Queueing
30 second input rate 10325000 bits/sec, 2836 packets/sec
30 second output rate 11188000 bits/sec, 2735 packets/sec
7273362 packets input, 3385856469 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 3 giants, 0 throttles
3336 input errors, 3336 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
7218217 packets output, 3726152299 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
Il router is a Cisco 7206VXR with PA-E3 linked to a BPX 8600
PA-E3 --------------- BPX8600
I hope this is enough to understand what happens.
Thank you .

carrier transitions are a incoming signal to the router. The router is just reporting the condition.
It is unlikely the router is causing this.
This basically means that the circuit went down. With ATM it will depend on if the atm switch is setting this because another circuit is down or if it a indication of the last hop.
When you get bursts of these on a ATM circuit and then it runs stable you could be getting clock slips.
You will need to contact your provider.

Hi,
thus there isn't fault on my router. But when is the scenery becomes unmanaged?
Now there is traffic but how long does it last?
Thank you.
