Problem with snmp (ASR-1001X)

Hello,

I'm having a problem with an asr1001-x on snmp-server. The collector (librenms) returned me errors on graphs.

I looked while doing an "snmp show" :

328968055 SNMP packets input
308 Bad SNMP version errors
523726 Unknown community name
693 Illegal operation for community name supplied
29063 Encoding errors
22536310 Number of requested variables
0 Number of altered variables
4516201 Get-request PDUs
274868 Get-next PDUs
693 Set-request PDUs
70944914 Input queue packet drops (Maximum queue size 1000)
257436224 SNMP packets output
0 Too big errors (Maximum packet size 1500)
48477 No such name errors
0 Bad values errors
0 General errors
229599836 Response PDUs
0 Trap PDUs
Packets currently in SNMP process input queue: 1000
SNMP global trap: disabled

I have execute "no snmp-server" and "write" the config, and  I have reconfigure (snmp-server group,etc.....).but I still have the same results (show snmp) and librenms cannot add the device.

How to resolve this error?

Thank you

Matt

 - For starters have a manual snmp query check with snmpget or snmpwalk with the community intended and configured on  librenms

Hello @matou ,

examining the output of show snmp we can notice also:

>> 70944914 Input queue packet drops (Maximum queue size 1000)

>> Packets currently in SNMP process input queue: 1000

And:

>> 328968055 SNMP packets input
308 Bad SNMP version errors
523726 Unknown community name

I would say that likely your router has a software bug with SNMP packets filling the input queue and dropped so you should consider an IOS XE sofware upgrade.

As noted by @marce1000  there can also be a problem of SNMP community used on your SNMP NMS software, but the high numbero of drops in the input queue is a sign of a software issue in the device related to SNMP.

if you post a show version it is possible to make a search for a possible bug.

Hope to help
