Problems with great packet loss

I am having a lab with a problem

In the lab there are two LANs (LAN1 and LAN2) connected via 2 WAN routers (3745A).

Between the routers there are a simulated (Line simulator) 6 Mbit connection.

Between the two LANs, there are also attached a packet generator (Ethernet in both LAN) to measure packet loss and so on.

I start to send 6Mbit UDP traffic witht the packet generator with 6mbit line. Everything

works perfect. The next step is to simulate a bit-fault in the line simulator. I stare out

with a fault possibility equal to 1e7. In the next minute the packet loss measured by

the packet generator is falling dramaticly. Within a few second the packet loss is 100%.

Why is the packet loss 100%. What happend with the UDP packet? Should not the sending router continue to

send packets from LAN 1 to LAN 2 even with some bit fault on the line? It seems to me

that there are some kind of congestion on the sending router. Where should I start to troubleshoot?

Should I start at the routers buffer?

Check with some of the debug messages or try out the drops and buffer overflows.
