Process ID's

Dear Experts,

We can log high CPU utilization events on IOS through SNMP, and we can also see the Top 3 processes(Pid/Util):

%SYS-1-CPURISINGTHRESHOLD: Threshold: Total CPU Utilization(Total/Intr): 41%/9%, Top 3 processes(Pid/Util):  3/20%, 120/8%, 187/1%

%SYS-1-CPUFALLINGTHRESHOLD: Threshold: Total CPU Utilization(Total/Intr) 7%/1%.

Regarding this feature I have a question: Are the process ID's (PID) fixed? I.e.:  PID==3 is always the SSH Process?

Hi,

No, it's not fixed. It works like on any other machine running any OS version. It always changes. When process starts it's assigned one free ID if it stops and starts again it get assigned another free process ID.
