Not all USB brands & sizes are supported. If Cisco routers can't detect the USB stick then chances are the 6800 won't either.
USB sticks need to be formatted with FAT16.
Was the IOS file's MD5 verified to match with the one at Cisco?
And why load the IOS via USB stick? The supervisor card is already pre-loaded with a valid and working IOS.

HI Leo,
Thanks for your response.
I was successfully able to load IOS into 6880 switch
The reason to load a new ios in the switch is, we are replacing the existing 6880 due to hardware failure and we want the same ios in new switch as the existing one.
I was able to copy ios from USB
but the difference in this device when you plug in the usb it doesn't show up as USB:, it is bootdisk:
strange thing is even flash memory is named as bootdisk:
believe me, i just executed copy bootdisk:<ios image name> bootdisk:<ios image name> and it got copied.
then I changed the bootvar sequence and rebooted the switch. Wish I could've taken the screen shots. :(
all happy happy.
thank you for your help Leo
