PWR-2811-AC=

hi,

customer has a DC powered 2811 that he wants to use for hardware support (if another 2811-DC fails). he wants to use the same chassis to backup a 2811-AC.

is it ok to purchas an AC power supply (PWR-2811-AC=) for the 2811 and just use the power supply i need?

Hi Carlos

I dont think you can simply get a AC pwr supply and start out.

You may require to convert AC to DC first and to step down the voltage levels which is required for the internal operations of the chips etc.,

maybe i didn't get your answer or a phrased my question poorly.

i don't know if you ever worked with 2500s, but...the chassis was the same in the DC and AC versions. what i mean is that if you had a DC-2501 and an AC-2501, you could exchange the power supplies and both would still work no problem.

can you do this with a 2811?

Its possible with 2800' also. Just replace the faulty PS with the AC PS and connect the power supply to the AC source. If you have AC power avialble it will work :)
