Hi,
I just configured a 3845 router with hwic-4esw L2 ports and I have assigned Vlan to its own switchport to provide additional routed ports. However, I need to configure QOS to some of these physical interfaces, but it looks like this can only be done in Vlan Interface. Is there a drawback in applying QOS in Vlan interface? or is there a better way to do this without replacing the interfaces with L3 switch?
Thanks and appreciate your feedback.

The policy is supported and can be applied to either the main or subinterface or VLAN. Depends on what you want to do, if you want to provide priority for VoIP traffic from all subinterfaces, than you're better off applying the policy on the main interface or VLAN.

Hi
QOS on VLAN can be a bit tricky..am still finding more about it every day.
on certain platforms for example. if u apply policing to a vlan. the sum of both ingress and egress traffic is policed...or so I understood from Cisco.
Bottom line, whatever u do, test it. use a traffic generator and test til u are 100%.
