QOS simple question. shape vs police

Please refresh my mind, if I want to decrease downloading/input traffic I can use only policing on WAN interface and not shaping. Am I correct?

Hi,

As you might be aware, shaping and policing are for limiting the traffic rate. With shaping, the traffic that exceeds certain rate will be buffered and sent while with policing, it drops.

Shaping is outbound. Policing can be enabled both inbound and outbound.

if you want limit downloading speed you need to use traffic policing.
