Hi All,
Can some one tell me
1)The relevance of "cable length" commnad in a DS3 interface.
2)What exactly happens to the controller when we code this command into the interface,
3)Also what is the default, minimum and maximum cable length.
I tried to find some documents but littlle confused, in some documents its mentioned default length is 49 feet and in some 50 .What differentiates the default value wheather the card type of the thickness of DS3 cable.
Thanks in advance.

1. little. in most cases things work anyway.
2. change output power level
3. different hardware may support different lengths.

In order not to saturate too sensitive receivers it may be necesseary to reduce output power level.
That is what what "cablelengt short" does.
