regarding BGP implementation with static routing between two ISP

Hello All,

We have two internet connectivity ISP A - 12 MB (primary) and ISP B 2 MB(backup). Till now we were running BGP so we were not facing any issue now we have to run static routing on our routers. Both the links are terminated on two different routers and those routers are connected on a switch but not running any protocol between them.

Now what I understand is that there will be no problem for traffic going out of our AS but there will be problem in the path taken by the traffic coming back from outside. Actually we want to use the 12 MB link for all traffic going out and coming in until this link fails.

But I am concerned about the incoming traffic if we have two ISP's and when we remove BGP on our routers and use static routes and still wants to prefer one path only for traffic coming from outside into our organisation.

If they use static, there is no way to provide that information to them unless you physically shut down the interfaces.

That's the beauty of dynamic routing protocol - the information is exchanged between routing devices.
