Replacement for Failing Cisco Nexus 6001 in vPC Setup

Hi Teams,

One of my client have a setup in my data center with two Cisco Nexus 6001 switches running vPC and other essential services. Unfortunately, Switch 1 is experiencing continuous failures and as you already know reached its end of sale(EOS) status. I am looking for a suitable replacement that is fully compatible with Switch 2(nexus 6001).

I would appreciate any recommendations for replacement models that would seamlessly integrate with the existing Cisco Nexus 6001 in a vPC setup. Additionally, any insights on ensuring minimal downtime and a smooth transition would be highly valuable.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Thank you!

Hi @MHM Cisco World,

Thank you for the information regarding the replacement of the switch in the vPC env. I need to know which switches are currently available in the market to replace the failed Nexus 6001. We are planning to purchase a new switch from Cisco, and we need to identify the most suitable model for replacing the 6001, as it has reached its end of life. Could you please provide details on the current models being sold by Cisco which supports vPC and all!?

Thanks!

Hello @san ju. ,

I dont think you can build a VPC pair between two Nexus of different models. So you probably need to buy two new switches.

Hopefully some other people like Reza Sharifi can confirm this.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
