Hello there!

Im toty and Im studying for my CCNA. Today I bought a secondhand 1841 router with Version 12.4 (13r)T, release software (fc1)!!!

And I'm trying to understand if it will support IOS 15 = c1841-adventerprisek9-mz image!

The thing is that when I do a SHOW VERSION to check out how much dram it has I get:

Cisco 1841 (revision 7.0) with 234496k/27648k

But after taking the case apart I can see that the physical memory states 128mb... so? Which one I need to consider?

Thank you guys!

Hello,

for the 15.1(4) release 192/64 DRAM/Flash will do. You are fine either way since you have 256MB DRAM.

The image size is about 45MB, so 64MB of flash is plenty.

Hello,

you have 256 MB DRAM. The default is 128 and is onboard. If you see another module in the DIMM slot, that is your expansion DRAM. See the FAQ below:

Q. What kind of DRAM memory does the Cisco 1841 router use?
A. The Cisco 1841 router uses SDRAM. The default DRAM for the Cisco 1841 router is 128 MB, which is fixed onboard. The Cisco 1841 has a DIMM slot onboard that can be populated with additional DRAM memory.

Thx for that quick reply Georg Pauwen!!!!!

What you say about the flash card? I got a 64mb flash! Does that image will fit there? Thx!
According to cisco.com it only needs 64 but I've read somewhere that 128mb will be preferable!

Hello,

64MB Flash is sufficient. For the 12.4 relase you need 192MB DRAM and 64MB Flash.

Thx Georg Pauwen but Im thinking of getting 15.1.4 release!
software.cisco.com says 192dram and 64flash will do BUT I read somewhere a 128flash will be ideal.

Have u tested that release with 64flash?
