Router 881G and Cisco Configuration Professional Software

Hi Guys.

I would like to know which are the minimal configuration parameters I have to setup in order to access the router via Cisco Configuration Professional (CCP) Software.

Currently I'm able to access via the Console. I have already setup the password and other basic configuration, using the Hyper Terminal.

Now I want to access using a Graphical Interface, like CCP. I'm trying with CCP software but does not find my router. My questions are:

Does CCP commicates to the router via the Console Cable (blue cable), or via Ethernet cable ?

If CCP communicates via Ethernet, which port of the router do I need to connect the PC to: FE LAN 0 ?, WAN Port ?

Also, if CPP communicates via Ethernet, I guess I need to setup manually the TCP/IP Protocol values on Windows:

Ip Address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway.

If that's the case, how can I retrieve those values ?

What I just really need is a way to access the router using a GUI.

So, if you know I fast and easy way to do it, please let know.

Thanks.

Hi,

CCP is using http so yes you need to connect it to a tcp/ip interface and it is your LAN interface not the WAN.

I think it is also using cdp so you must enable it on the router and you must also verify that http is enabled with sh run | i http command. If fe0 is a switch interface which you can verify with sh int f0 switchport then you'll have to create a vlan interface with an ip address and then on your pc put an address in this range or let the dhcp server give it to you if it is enabled and you have a scope configured.

Can you post the output of sh run without sensitive infos of course.

Regards.

Alain.
