Router recommendation, ISR or ASR

Hello

I need some recommendation regarding choosing the right type of router. Mainly it will just handle a few GRE-tunnels at 1 Gbit or more and be able to failover with HSRP. Could the ASR-920 be a good choice or is the ISR series to be preferred?

The choice between the ISR series and the ASR series (and the specific models within each series) often boils down to capacity, the latter series providing more capacity.

You mention a "few" gig GRE (encrypted?) tunnels. Could you be more precise in how many that will be? Further, and their expected load and whether you expect any future growth?

Agree with what Joe said.

1 Gbps or more?  That's already ASR 1001-X with a base "5 Gbps" license enabled.  (Data Sheet)

Depends on your requirement.  ASR920 is aimed at service provider.

Ok i'll clarify. It should be able to handle at minimum 1 Gbps and up to 2 Gbps. GRE and HSRP functionality is a must.

I've tried to verify if it's possible to setup GRE-tunnel interfaces on the ASR-920 but i'm not quite shure if it's possible?

GRE and HSRP? That's all?
Stick with ASR 1001-X.

I forgot to mention that cost is also something to evaluate and the 1001-x is quite expensive and that's why i looked at the 920.

Can the 920 like the ASR-920-4SZ-D  handle GRE?

I realy need to get confirmation of there is GRE-support in ASR-920, anyone?
