hi,

what router platform are you using?

are you uploading image on an external compact flash (CF) card? how much is your CF capacity?

Hi

Router is 2800 series, it  is 64 MB it was stuck to rommon suddenly, for that reason i tried to upload image steps like following:-

rommon 16 > IP_ADDRESS=171.68.171.0
     rommon 17 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.254.0
     rommon 18 > DEFAULT_GATEWAY=171.68.170.3
     rommon 19 > TFTP_SERVER=171.69.1.129
     rommon 20 > TFTP_FILE=c2600-is-mz.113-2.0.3.Q
     rommon 21 > tftpdnld

               IP_ADDRESS: 171.68.171.0
           IP_SUBNET_MASK: 255.255.254.0
          DEFAULT_GATEWAY: 171.68.170.3
              TFTP_SERVER: 171.69.1.129
                TFTP_FILE: c2600-is-mz.113-2.0.3.Q

Invoke this command for disaster recovery only.
WARNING: all existing data in all partitions on flash will be lost!

I do not know if there other method than this?

Thank you

hi,

you'll need to modify TFTP server IP as it's outside the 171.68.171.0/23 subnet and use a 2800 IOS image.

     rommon 19 > TFTP_SERVER=171.69.1.129
     rommon 20 > TFTP_FILE=c2600-is-mz.113-2.0.3.Q

could you simply do below instead?

      IP_ADDRESS: 192.168.1.2
           IP_SUBNET_MASK: 255.255.255.0
          DEFAULT_GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1
              TFTP_SERVER: 192.168.1.1

you can also use another router's CF to load the proper IOS and see whether it boots properly.

make sure your config register is set to 0x2102.

Hi

what about warning message , is that mean i will lose everything on flash even configuration

"WARNING: all existing data in all partitions on flash will be lost!"

Thank you

hi,

yes, if your external 64 MB CF card can't hold the old and new IOS.

the CF card only holds the IOS.

the startup config is saved on NVRAM.

Hi

It is internal CF, so how i can backup before will erase CF

Thank you

hi,

the CF is usually an external card.

look in the front panel of your 2800 series router.

you can eject it, insert it to another working router and backup via TFTP.

an example would be:

WORKING_2800#show flash   <<< CHECK CONTENTS AND DIRECTORY

WORKING_2800#copy flash tftp  <<< IT WILL PROMPT YOU FOR TFTP/PC IP AND SPECIFIC FILE TO BACKUP
