Router shows CPU high utilisation

Hi Members.

We are getting high cpu  utilization, due to this network is not working properly.

Following are the log of show processes cpu sorted , How can we identify why CPU is utilized.

From your stats, it appears most CPU is in "interrupt" usage, which is optimal for "normal" traffic forwarding.

Routers do have specific capacity limitations, i.e. how "fast" a particular CPU is.

Very likely, you're just pushing the CPU to its limits due to your traffic.  (What model router is this, and what's the traffic volume?)

If so, the only real solution is a "faster" router (on some of the later ISRs, "faster" might also be accomplished using a license upgrade).

Hi Joseph.

we are using 7200 series router.

Interface ustilisation is only 40 %

one thing we found on NMS and it shows following alerts form router, how can we over come this.

CPU die temperature 0 of hardware health monitoring.

+11.95 Voltage 0 of hardware health Monitoring.

CPU has less then 60 Days of capacity.

Regards.

"we are using 7200 series router."

What NPE (or NSE)?  BTW the NPE -# indicates their PPS capacity.  BTW, many NPEs do not have much capacity for high-speed (i.e. FE or better) Ethernet.  Even the NPE-G2 might not have the capacity for a single full duplex gig interface.  (Gig, duplex, needs about 3 Mpps.)  Lastly, what model 7200, as the earlier model's backplane had capacity issues too with later high-speed interfaces.

"interface ustilisation is only 40 %"

What "speed" interface.  (Big difference between 40% of T-1 vs. 40% gig.)

Hello,

post the full running configuration of your 7200 router, maybe we can spot something...

scheduler allocate 3000 1000
can you share the output of above.
