I have a 12 site radio trunking system that relies on the internet for data/voice backhaul. Most sites use a cellular modem for internet and all have RV042's for VPN. Each router has a tunnel for each site. So each one has at least 12 VPN connections.
The system as a whole works fine, but occasionally data will not pass from one site to another even though the tunnel says it's connected. I have to hit the 'Disconnect' button to reset the tunnel and then it starts working again. I have Keep Alive and Dead Peer Detection (10 secs) enabled.
The only way I can tell if a tunnel is down (other than a customer complaining) is to do a site connection test through my radio management software. Right now I am forced to test it at least once or twice a day as at least 1 or 2 tunnels won't be working. And it's never the same tunnels; it seems to be completely random.
At this point I'm not sure what I can do to improve the reliability of the system. So I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
Thx in advance for any replies
