SD-WAN BFD hardware vs software mode.

In the SD-WAN documentation, it says "To change the BFD session modes between software mode and hardware mode, you need to remove all existing BFD configuration and reconfigure it." This seems to be the only mention in the documentation of these modes. Is there a description anywhere of these modes, or a discussion of how to configure them?

The software and hardware BFD modes refer to whether BFD runs on the CPU or is offloaded to hardware for better performance. There’s no command to manually switch modes. And thats why it’s handled automatically based on the device, features in use, and config.

Unfortunately  to change the mode, you’ll need to remove the existing BFD config and reapply it. That’s why the docs mention deleting and reconfiguring/. Cisco doesn’t provide detailed documentation on this. Meaning/ it’s mostly platform dependent.

So there is no command like: bfd mode hardware or mode software LOOOL
