SDSL in washington

folks

i have a requirement to connect a small office, approx 6 users, in the US (washington) to the UK and i've been getting a few quotes for 2Mb leased lines and the results are scary, i.e. 25k (£) plus

the line needs to be encrypted so i'll be using line encryptors

my query is about SDSL

i'm considering using a T1, or 2 * T1s bound to a single pipe, to get either 1.5Mb or 3Mb but i need to know if there are any pitfalls to using SDSL

i'd be grateful to hear of anyone's experiences or views on the benefits/pitfalls of sdsl in washington or in general

thanks to anyone taking the time to reply or to read this

greatfully appreciated

International leased line makes no sense anymore. Expensive, troublesome, slow.

Everyone that had to us them in the past is thankful to heaven when moving away.

SDSL or not, does not make a difference  and does not improve any aspect of the above.

Just creat an IPsec VPN and you are good to go, you can have a 10 mpbs circuit for reasonable rates.

Note, Cisco Ipsec solutions are fully FIPS-140 complaiant, officially approved by the Gov.of the USA for enciphered transmission of sensitive data:

many thanks for your contribution its greatly appreciated

i have some prices for a 10Mb SDSL line and its around $12k pa - thats a considerable saving

i'm still curious about performance but may just have to take the chance

many thanks for your time and views

Sometime you can have the same ISP both sides, eg GBLX. They may also offer you an MPLS circuit if you like.

In that case you can be assured that performancs are practically the same as a dedicated circuit. Encryption does not make a difference either.
