Serial Link Heavy Traffic

Hi,

I have 2 seperate WAN links, Serial 2Mbps P2P and MPLS 2Mbps links from my office to the data center.

Both these lines have been configured for load balancing by creating a virtual tunnel. The load balancing works as both routes are avaialble in the routing table.

I have also used crypto configs to encrypt the tunnel packets

But for some reason, even after load balancing, the serial link is taking up the entire load.

The Tx at my serial interface and the Rx at the other end serial int is heavily choked almost 246/255 where as the gigabit interface carrying the MPLS link is showing 1/255 at both ends.

Can anyone put some ideas as to what might be happening.

Many thanks

Who told you that you can bundle these with "virtual tunnel" ? It is not possible to do that.

If have too much traffic, you have to buy a faster circuit.

Usually tunneled packets are seen as one flow and, by default, network devices would normally send them across just one of your two paths.  Possible solution would be to use two tunnels, also equally costed.  However, insure the tunnels are "sourced" such that they will each use one path, e.g. source to the physical egress ports.

BTW, on your 1/255 load on the gig link, have you adjusted your bandwidth to reflect the WAN bandwidth and not the gig bandwidth?
