I've done some reading and from what I can tell there is no way to have a SFP+ in a 2951 router, but my boss insists that it's possible. So I am asking the Cisco community whether or not it's possible. If not, what router series/platform is most similar to the 2900 series that would allow us to use SFP+'s. Thanks in advance.

You are correct in that a SFP+ will not work in a 2951.
I only did a quick check and there may be something else, but the closest router that I could identify that would use a SFP+ may be an ASR 1001-X.

Excellent, yeah in my reading I thought the ASR 1000 series looked the closest in specs. Thank you kindly.
