Should Core switch or ASA do my routing?

Hi, just wondered if it really mattered what I use for my routing. I have a core Nortell switch and a Cisco ASA 5520 firewall. There seems to me a mixture of routing on each of them. The core switch has a 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <ASA IP> and I see the ASA has some routes the Core could do, does it really matter which one does it?

Thanks

I would use the switch if its a Layer 3 switch and will do this in hardware.

Also this will keep the processing of the rules on the ASA to an acceptable level as this is done in software.

Does not matter which one does it as long as you Network is secure.
