strange behaviour from BGP

Hi there

I've noticed a strange behaviour at one of our BGP routers.

When I modify local-preference with a route-map inbound, I see 2 entries of the same prefix in the BGP table, one as a best choice and one as "receive-only".

I'm nok quite sure if this is an expected behaviour.

The following is a printout from the BGP table:

16245 8434

217.116.238.210 from 217.116.238.210 (217.116.227.241)

Origin IGP, localpref 200, valid, external, best

16245 8434, (received-only)

217.116.238.210 from 217.116.238.210 (217.116.227.241)

Origin IGP, localpref 100, valid, external

Hello,

here is a possible explanation, not sure if this applies to your specific situtaion:

Paths marked as "(received-only)" in the show ip bgp longer-prefixes output. These paths have been rejected by policy, but have been stored by the router because soft-reconfiguration inbound has been configured for the neighbor sending the path.

Regards,

GP
