Strange routing issue on VLAN

CliveG

I have 2 servers. Here are the pretend IPs:

10.10.10.8/24

10.10.10.100/24

These two addresses are connected to 2 interfaces on the same L3 switch under VLAN10 (also the gateway 10.10.10.1/24)

I have my PC (192.168.32.10/24) connected to another port on the same L3 switch under VLAN32 (also the gateway 192.168.32.1/24).

With the routing being exactly the same to both end points in VLAN10 (Connected distributed into IS-IS) could some please explain to me why I can and cannot do the following:

From my PC:

I can traceroute and ping to 10.10.10.8

I cannot traceroute or ping to 10.10.10.100

From the L3 switch:

I can ping directly to both 10.10.10.8 and 10.10.10.100. But, if I use the source VLAN as VLAN32 I can ping 10.10.10.8 but not 10.10.10.100.

This has started to annoy me now as if I can ping one, when they are bothe configured exactly the same, I should be able to ping the other. There is something not right on the switch but I cannot see or find what that is.

Any ideas of where to troubleshoot please?

Many thanks for the reply.

Looks like it was the Ubuntu server in the end. It was doing something strange with the routing. Rebuilt, re-configured and it now all works perfectly.

Weird.

Many thanks for the help.

I cannot traceroute or ping to 10.10.10.100

first this bring to me that, what is this device, check any Local Firewall enabled which prevent this.

please confirm from  this device  10.10.10.100 ( are you able to ping rest of the network like other VLAN IP address ?)
