Could someone please explain to me the difference between subnet routes and
network-level routes?
Thank you.

Hi,
Got your question.
when we are speaking about auto-summary, all the subnetted routes (subnetting -- dividing the networks into multiple sub network's) will summarize into one single network route.
For example, In your routing table if you have multiple subnetted routes like 10.77.1.0/28,10.77.1.16/28,10.77.1.24/28 , then you can summarize into one single network route that 10.77.1.0/24.
Hope you got it.

Hi,
Got confused about your question
Two kind of routes i can explain here. The first one is host based routes -- The network id which have a subnet of /32 [192.168.1.1/32] called host based routes. You can advertise these network id via both static and dynamic routing protocols
e.g ip route 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.255 10.1.1.1
The routes which is having less than /32 subnets are called as network based routes

Thank you. Maybe this would help. I was really trying to understand the auto-summary command . It says "To allow automatic summarization of subnet routes into network-level routes" I do not understand what the difference is. Or maybe it is what the command really means I do not understand.

Yes,
but auto-summary would create 10.0.0.0/8 in your example, as 10.0.0.0 is a Class A IP network (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classful_network ).

(notice the default value has changed - it's disabled by default since 12.2(8)T!)
