SWITCH VTP DOMAIN

Please I have switches in a production network with domain name XXX, now i want to put some (3) Switches on the network,just for practice. I have configured YYY domain for them, one ine server and others in client. Hope the YYY server will not overwrite or interfere with mi real network XXX.

If the domain name is not the same, it won't interfere.

You can also make either one VTP Mode Transparent.

Thats the pro, i dont want any to be trasparent, hope it wont interfare?

Hello Just,

as Leo noted different names no VTP interaction.

Note:

if you want to setup trunks between these new switches and production switches you need to configure the trunks with

switchport mode trunk

DTP compares VTP names and would not allow the trunk to be setup
