tcam, qos acl ,security acl and fib

Hi everybody!

I have few questions about TCAM.

1) Do switches have seprate tcam for qos acl and security acl? or there is one tcam for both?

2) Do fib uses tcam?

Sorry Sarah, i was thinking of something else !!

Yes the FIB does use TCAM to store it's entries.

1) Depends. For example with a Sup1a on a 6500 QOS and security acl's shared the same TCAM resources.

On supervisors later than that they have their own TCAM resources -

2) Not sure what the relation would be here. Is there something specific you were thinking of ?

I was just wondering if fib table uses tcam structure or not. Fib table has nothing to do with tcam.
