Testing this backup Internet circuit test

Hello, please see attached diagram.

Question:

I want to test a scenario in which the R1-MPLSCE-TEST MPLS circuit fails.

Then if the router R1-MPLSCE-TEST can't reach the data center via the "MPLS" circuit, the backup router 1841 (R2-BACKUP-INTERNET) would start routing traffic via the Internet-IPsec circuit.

Question:

Is it more effective if in this case I configure ip sla and object tracking in the SW1 so that I can monitor icmp to the data center via the R1-MPLSCE-TEST rotuer? Then if the ip sla detects a failure, I immediately use a ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <R2_BACKUP_INTERNET_IP>?

Is that on SW1 the adequate device to setup the ip sla to monitor this right?

Hi,

IP SLA is your best option. You could configure it on 3560 if it supports it. Or may use a router.

As soon main route via primary router goes down(will be removed from routing table) backup route will take over and added to the routing table.

Hope it will help.
