Hi all,

I have read that on catalyst 3560/3750 it isn't possible to configure tunnel gre.

If so, which is the minimum platform, among catalyst, that supports tunnel gre? 6500/7600?

Regards

Gianluca

GRE can be configured on many lowerend cisco routers so if you search on cisco site you will get the lots of materials on the same...

look at this link hope you can get some help:

Hi Devang,

i know that on cisco site there are manu topics about tunnel gre...

The problem is that i have found on Feature Navigator Tool that catalyst 3750 dosn't support tunnel gre...and i got feel very surprised!!

This mean that to have tunnel gre with a switch L3 i'm obliged to buy a 6500/7600?

Hello Gianluca,

The catalyst 3750's do not officially support GRE's, which means u can get the commands but there will be no support for this technology... anyway, even if it supports in future, i would not advice you to run it here, since the 3750's have not been designed for this function.. each device has to do what it is supposed to !!! so the cheap and the efficient option is to buy a small router, which can do this !!! By the way, am surprised, why you are still looking for GRE, when you have other options in VPN, which is reliable and secure, like IPSEC !!!!

Let us know....

Hello Raj,

thanks for your support...

I'd like to use gre because the tunnel is between two device within my network..this tunnel should be used to transport internet traffic..about 100M...so I can't use IPSEC since there would be too load..for my device.

I need tunnel gre to avoid to redistribute full internet table on my private network...

I need a device with 4 Giga interface...and for all these reason I have chosen 3750...but I can't use it...
