Hi,
I think the archive feature is what you're looking for.

Hi,
I always copy the running-configuration to the TFTP server after I make a change. I prefer to do it manually myself to keep track of changes. If something goes somehow wrong, the last configuration is always available for a roll-back.
On the other hand, resetting a running-configuration cannot be done easily by accident. But you should always save it to avoid long downtime and trouble.

Hi,
I think the question is two have two types of running configuration on the router or switch at a time so that if any changes or mis config then we no need to rest... Is that the question?
As told by... I have CiscoWorks which manage the network devices archive, It will keep every change in the running configuration with a unique version number so that we have a track of changes. If we required to revert back to say two months back running config we can easily track by using version tree and deploy on to device.
Hope the above clear and understood.
Please rate the helpfull posts.

Naidu.

Hi,
I believe the question is well understood. I suggested another alternative than CiscoWorks.
CiscoWorks is great after all.
