type 2 ospf routes not working

Hi

below is an output of show ip route from my router that runs ospf. The routes are ospf type 2 routes and for some reason they are not working. I have come to this conclusion by randomly replacing some of those type 2 routes with static routes which solves the problem. I have over 120 routes so its not logical to do have static routes for all of them. Is there a way of forcing them to be OSPF type 1 routes.

Hello,

where do the E2 routes come from, that is, how are they redistributed into OSPF ? You can specify the metric-type as 1 when redistributing, so they show up as E1:

Router(config-router)#redistribute eigrp 1 metric-type 1

Hi Georg

They are indeed being redistributed from EIGRP , let me try that config and I'll post feedback

Thank you for the help ,the routes are now type 1 but the subnets are still not reachable , traffic still drops at the router. its like the router does not forward traffic to the type 1 just as it was doing with the type 2

Hello,

what does your topology look like ? Can you post the relevant configurations ?

When you replaced some of these E2 routes with static routes did the static route have exactly the same next hop of 172.16.5.1? What can you tell us about the device that is 172.16.5.1?
