Hello, I would like to upgrade rommon on my Cisco 2801 but this is what I get:
Router#upgrade rom-monitor file flash:C2800NM_RM2.srec.124-13r.T11
This command will result in a 'power-on reset' of the router!
Continue? [yes/no]: yes
ROMMON image upgrade in progress.
Erasing boot flash eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Programming boot flash ppppppppppp
Now Reloading
System Bootstrap, Version 12.4(13r)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

The router stops here and I am forced to power off and on again and the upgrade does not succeed.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi,
Just thought of sharing a useful URL when upgrading ROMMON

Your ROMmon file wasn't "accepted". You are upgrading to T11 but the router is continuously using the T version.

Matteo,
The ROMMON image C2800NM_RM2.srec.124-13r.T11 is not suitable for C2801 in particular. It would run in 2811, for example, but specifically for 2801 routers, this ROMMON image is not compatible. That is the reason the upgrade fails: the router cannot boot with this ROMMON so after a next power-on, it reverts back to the primary ROMMON stored in its immutable ROM memory.
The latest ROMMON image for 2801 is the C2801_RM2.srec.124-13r.T5, see
Try this one and let us know if the upgrade finally worked for you.
Best regards,
Peter

It is listed in 2801's downloads though. Probably by error.

Hi,
Certainly an error. I had some troubles personally with the ROMMON upgrade until I've found out that the image in fact does not suit the 2801 platform.
Note the "NM" naming - it always refers to higher 2800 routers than 2801. That was my first clue.
Best regards,
Peter

It's almost a year later now, and this - C2800NM_RM2.srec.124-13r.T11 is still listed as the latest release for the 2801. Is that still wrong?

Hi Edward,
Yes, it is still wrong.
Best regards,
Peter

I haven't started the update yet, I needed to be sure I had the right files first.
