Upgrading from Cisco 2901 to a Cisco 3945E.
With the change to a higher device is it a safe bet to utilize tftp. As in copy existing running-config to tftp and then tftp to 3945e.

Perhaps there is some aspect of this that I am not understanding but it seems pretty straightforward to me. Yes it would be a safe bet to use tftp to copy the running config from the old router to some PC running tftp server software and then to use tftp to copy the config from the server to the new router. Note that a certain amount of configuration of the new router needs to be done before copying the config using tftp (most especially configuring an IP address on an interface and possibly some routing logic if the tftp server is not on the local subnet). Also note that going from 2901 to 3945 may have some difference in interface naming that needs to be adjusted and that if there are differences in IOS versions that there may be some difference in syntax of some commands.
