Verify Link Throughput for 1M leased-line connection

I have a 1M leased-line connection to link location A and B. The link is very slow most of the time. Can I know what is the best method to verify the line speed?

If this line is still not put into production, a simple and effective way is to have a FTP server at one of the link and a ftp client to download from the other end.

And you will see the actual througput!

You can check the traffic status using show interface command on your routers which will give you the input and output traffic stats.

The above mentioned stats will be based on 5Mins Average calculation you can tweak the same to 5 Seconds using load-interval command under the interface.

If you still want to activate all time automatic monitoring then you can check out for freeware tools like PRTG/Cacti for the same...
