Hi,
Using a FXS/DID for PSTN I think you will be struggling
trying to buy/rent a DID trunk from a TELCO nowadays.
The FXS element is for connecting to actual analogue phones
NOT lines.
You would be better to investigate finding/buying an FXO card if you need to use
POTS PSTN or is ISDN BRI/PRI option... SIP trunking is now abundant with most TELCOs
for a modern solution.

Alex

I am going to configure outgoing call from CUCM 7.1 , and I have two cards connected on the mentioned above router Cisco 3800 Series FXS and FXO both the cards I already connected, But the card interface LED'S are in Amber color , what I need to know is the interface card is supported for the above IOS and Cisco Router.

Hi Mohamed,
Does your router have a relevant DSP (PVDM) module installed, you need this for analogue or digital telephony signal conversion to IP.
show diag will let you see what is installed.

Mohamed,
You can see yourself from show inv that there NO DSP (PVDM) chips fitted in your router.
You will need to source a PVDM in order to run any FXO,FXS,PRI or BRI cards.

Alex

Hi Alex,
Thank you very much for your assistence.
i am very new for CUCM Config and PSTN termination. i will ask to buy PVDM Chip to my company. can you suggest me which one i want buy Like below
PVDM2-8, PVDM2-16, PVDM2-32, PVDM2-48, and PVDM2-64
Thanks
Mohamed
07-23-2015 07:12 AM
Mohamed,
If costs are important then a PVDM2-8 will be OK -- But you will have no room for any expansion or to use your router for CUCM MTP/trancoding resources.
If money is OK - I suggest you go for the PVDM2-64 as you could add more FXS ports for example and also use the DSP for smoe transcoding resources.
If you have a CCO account then have a look at the DSP calculator tool on
http://www.cisco.com/web/applicat/dsprecal/dsp_calc.html
I hope this helps
Regards
Alex
