Vlan Communication

Hey, I am trying to get 192.168.11.41 (VLAN 11) to communicate with 192.168.20.51 (VLAN 20) on the port 11.41 is configured as followed:

interface GigabitEthernet2/0/4

description IIS

switchport access vlan 11

switchport mode access

!

And 20.51 is a bit different due to the fact that is on VSphere and has a trunked connection:

!

interface GigabitEthernet2/0/6

description ESX Server Trunk

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

!

on the Virtual switch for VSphere the IIS server is set to vlan 20

I am trying to get access from 11.41 to send SNMP packets to 20.51

any way one of you would be able to assist me?

Hi,

I don't understand what you mean by "Virtual switch for VSphere the IIS server is set to vlan 20"? 

But can 192.168.20.51 ping your svi VLAN20 192.168.20.1?  If so, everything should work.  Hopefully your portgroup where the snmp server (20.51) is set with the right vlan ID.

When I say Virtual switch I mean networking portion of Vcenter and that Vsphere standard switch the VLAN ID is 20. I can ping 20.1 from 20.51 but I think I have resolved my issue. The problem was when I was attempting to use Orion NPM it was staing that the server 20.51 had 100% packet loss which I knew was not the case. After finding out that Orion uses ICMP to conduct their packet loss test I was able to enable "netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8" on the server and the issue has been resolved.

I was a bit confused for awhile but the issue has been resolved thanks for looking into this.
