VLAN over WAN configuration help

Hi,

I have cisco 4506 E at the HO and cisco 3506 at branch office. 20 VLANs are configured in cisco 4506 at HO.

Presently branch office is in the same vlan (vlan 1). and the connection between HO and the branch is through P2P layer 2 link. And the branch is using the same ip range used by vlan 1 of HO (128.0.0.0/16).

I want to make some of the users of the branch member of some vlans configured at HO.

So please help me to find out a solution of the issue.

Hello

Depending on how you are connected to your provider, there are multiple solutions.

Two of them:

L2TP:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0t/12_0t1/feature/guide/l2tpT.html

Dot1q Tunneling (Q-in-Q)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/dot1qtnl.html

Check this quides and let us know if have problems.

You said:

What do you mean by that? You have plain connection (point-to-point) between HQ and branch? If you have a dedicated line, (no L3 to provider) then you can just use dot1q protocol to transport VLAN between your HQ and branch.

Cheers,

Calin
