Wake-on-lan

based on my research it seems that in order to have a successful deployment of WOL I would need minimal of the following.

1. the L3 device where the server is attached, enable ip forward-protocol.

2. the L3 interface where the server is connected needs ip helper-address.  this helper address should be the broadcast address of the client PC network.

3. the L3 interface where the client PC is connected needs ip directed-broadcast.

my question regarding item #2.

what happen if I have hundreds of client networks span across the private WAN.  do I need to configure each and everyone of their network broadcast address as ip helper-address?  if not, what are my alternatives?

thanks in advance

I am not aware that there is any other workable alternative. I agree that this solution does not scale well. But as far as I know there is no workable alternative other than an ip helper-address for each of the remote subnets.
