Hello All, we are in the process of ordering a DS3 circuit between two sites.
One site will have a new 3845 router while the other will connect to an existing 7206VXR router (NPE300 processor).
I need to figure out what interfaces/modules I need to purchase for these two routers.
The options I think I have are:
For 3845 --
NM-1A-T3 1-port DS-3 ATM network module
or
NM-1T3/E3 1-port clear-channel T3/E3 network module
For 7206VXR --
PA-A3-T3 1-port ATM DS3 port adapter, enhanced
or
PA-T3+ 1-port T3+ high speed serial port adapter.
I checked the 7200 Port Adapter Installation requirements to make sure I will not exceed the bandwidth points if I purchase either of the DS3 adapters.
I guess this will all depend on the line being ordered, Serial or ATM....
But since I've never dealt with a DS3 line before I want to make sure I order the right part.
Any advice would be greately appreciated.
Thank you.
Dmitry

Hi,
the part numbers are correct. if this is a point-to-point T3 get the 'serial' version that is easier to configure and more efficient bandwidth-wise.
Instead if you are connecting to an ATM network, you need ATM as the serial version will not work.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Thank you Paolo, your answer clarified many things for me. The line we ordered is a point-to-point T-3, so then we will get the serial modules/port adapters.
Thanks again.
Dmitry.
