A jumbogram is an internet layer packet exceeding the standard maximum transmission unit (MTU). The IPv4 protocol has a limit of 1500. However in IPv6 there is an extension to permit packets of larger size. It supports 65535octets

Just a clarification - IPv4 packets are not limited to 1500, IPv4's limit is 64KB.
1500 is the limit for standard Ethernet. Ethernet frames larger than standard are generally called "jumbos"; of which there is no standard although usually about up to 9 KB is supported.
BTW, other media support smaller or larger maximum frame sizes.
